Coat Project

April 16, 2010

Stephanie landed a project with the Brush Bunch Club.  She spent many hours embroidering the backs of coats with their logo which she digitized.  Each member also had his or her name embroidered on the front.  She worked hard to get some done for the ride in Odessa last weekend.  Reports are that everyone really liked the finished product. Quilt Label

April 16, 2010

A co-worker asked me to create a label for an Americana quilt she made for an exchange student living with her. Here is what she opted for.

New Projects

April 16, 2010

My daughter and I are walking in the Susan B. Komen race for the cure in Spokane this Sunday. I wanted to find a can wrap to embroider, but was not successful finding one locally and ordering some was out of the question due to the cost of shipping. So, I searched and found a pattern. Here is an example of what I came up with.

Springtime!

April 8, 2010

Gosh the winter sailed past and now spring is upon us with wild weather as usual! We didn’t get much in the way of snow this past winter, especially compared to the winter of 2008-09. That will be a winter to talk about for a while. But, in the past week we have seen snow, rain, hail, and now a wind storm is predicted for tomorrow! I am really looking forward to the May flowers to come and hope they don’t blow away in the wind.

I finished a quilt top, but am still trying to convince myself that I like it. I have already picked out a pattern for my next quilt, so I need to finish this last one first! Because I am not certain I really like it I have not even looked at it for over a week now and in some ways am afraid to look at it again as I may dislike it so much that I won’t ever finish it and that may be the last of the quilt making for me since I have such a hard time starting something new when I have an unfinished project hanging around. This seems to be some sort of psychological issue for me I think as I hear of many people who have unfinished items and have no problem starting new projects.

My embroidery machine has been busy this week with Stephanie working on jackets for the Brush Bunch Club. They are turning out nicely and hopefully that will inspire others to come to us for work.

St. Patty's Day Socks

I have done some socks and need to work on getting the business name out in the forefront on Etsy and places such as that. It is amazing how many steps it takes to get the business really up and running. It takes a lot of careful, thoughtful planning.

Wall Hangings

October 24, 2009

I know it has been ages since I have updated my webpage. Life happens and it has been very busy here! I did find myself wanting to create wall hangings this fall for some crazy reason. Well as you can imagine, one thing leads to another. I started out with an appliqued wall hanging, somehow thinking that I had once perfected the process. While I have come a long way, I still have frustrations with machine applique. It turned out “ok”, but I was still not totally happy with it, so my brain started thinking of how I could do it better and I came up with the idea of doing embroidered wall hangings. Well, this idea seemed to satisfy my need to do something different. I now have so many ideas and no time! So, here are some samples of my embroidered wall hangings! I still have some in process of being quilted and the possibilities are endless.

Wool Dress

August 30, 2009

As I was looking for a towel to make a bib for my granddaughter and my 3 year old (almost 4 year old) granddaughter was looking on I found a dress that my mother had knitted for me about 50 years ago.  So, I pulled the dress out and asked my granddaughter if she would like to try it on and told her how my mother had made it for me when I was her age.  It fit her perfectly and she was very proud of it as she went to show grandpa and her daddy!

I did wonder if she may have looked at all like myself in it many years ago.  I don’t think there are any pictures of me wearing the dress, but certainly sparked my imagination!
